Lemonade Clean-Up Crew Since it's a holiday and a hot, sunny day, we asked Mommy if she would please make us some lemonade... She said that she would if we would clean up the mess afterward, so here we are working on the leftover stuff... Timmy: OK, I'm in charge. Monkey and T-Munkey, scoop up the pulp and seeds. Arnold, wipe down the cutting board and, Mr. Inbisible, you pick up the peels. Also, everybody be careful not to sling this stuff around too much! By the way, call me Beldar. T-Munkey: Ow, it seems that I've gotten lemon juice in my eye... Timmy: Whatever you do, don't touch your eyes! T-Munkey: Too late. It appears that I've blinded myself in both eyes now. No worries -- stiff upper lip and all that -- I can still help! Arnold: Hey! You've scooped me up, you ninney! Monkey: Ouch!!! I've flung pulp in my eye too... Timmy: Well, do the best you can with your remaining eye! Mr. Inbisible: Hey hey hey look - I be's a chiken! Monkey: I'm filing for Workman's Comp. Timmy: Good help is impossible to find... Lemon-scented leaves This little plant has grown opportunistically in our garden (Oxfordshire, UK). It doesn't look or smell like much, but its leaves when rubbed give off a powerful, almost artificial lemon smell: like lemon Smints or cleaning fluid. The internet keeps saying "lemon mint" or "lemon bee balm" (monarda citriorda) but I don't know. I think I'm being influenced by (a) the smell and (b) the fact that it's growing near our existing mint pots. The leaf shape and arrangement doesn't look like UK lemon mint at all. No flowers but it's only appeared this summer.
